We meet on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7pm (except December).
Our meetings are fairly informal, and our main program topic alternates from month to month: one month we enjoy something educational, and the next we view slides and prints created by our members. We socialize over dessert after every meeting. For meeting times and directions, click here.
Our educational programs include darkroom demonstrations, 'equipment nights', reports by members on workshops they've attended, and slide presentations illustrating an interesting photographic topic or technique.
By presenting your work to fellow photographers, you obtain useful tips on how to improve your composition and technique. We alternate subject categories between Pictorial, Creative, Nature, Travel, and Photojournalism. (For information on the official competition guidelines and a description of subject categories, click here.) Presenting your work is also a wonderful way to receive kudos! Members select the slides and prints deemed worthy of higher competition; these are entered into a bi-monthly competition against entries from the other five Santa Clara County camera clubs that comprise our local Council, the 6Cs.
The Hollister Camera Club's annual awards dinner is held in January at a local restaurant where we review our best work of the previous year. Typically a member of another club is invited to judge the entries and award honors. The club also awards the Lillie Marcheski Nature Award to a member with an outstanding nature photo.
We also decide our annual project in January. The project focuses on different photographic topics or techniques we'd like to experiment with during the year. Results are showcased at our November meeting.
